THAL COVENS

“Prepare and Proliferate – that is the need of the One Mind of the lords we serve, the only need we must serve, for They and Theirs have enemies who are many.

All that is mere flesh and bone and blood trembles in Their vast, invisible shadow, and wishes to destroy Them and Theirs, lest They make nourishment of those of flesh who are unfaithful. Food or slave, all have their place within the One Mind's divine stratagems.

And so we Prepare, for the time is coming when They shall emerge from the shadows of the ether and begin Their great harvest across the stars. We of flesh are as crops that have been a long time ripening, which will be separated from the other as wheat from chaff. We joyfully give up our borrowed lives to sustain the One Mind.

And we Proliferate, for in proliferation can we effect Their return more easily. Know this - we are the chosen, and so we choose to serve the needs of the One Mind.

One of the most significant factors regarding the slow but inexorable approach of the Thal Hive Mind is the fact that their way seems to be prepared by a number of quasi-religious covens within Federation space.

These covens worship the Thal as elemental beings. They philosophise that the monsters are closer to divinity than any religion or state of mind can provide; that all the races of the quadrant are mere vessels of meat to serve the Thal; they see beauty and justice in the fact that the Thal are the universe’s ultimate predators and harvesters. Members of these covens vary in race – of those exposed thus far, the majority of cultists have been Human, but almost every major race within the Federation is represented.
