PRAETOR DELORA RADAIK

Delora Radaik is the current Praetor of the Romulan Star Empire. She is the first female Praetor in Romulan history.

Formerly a military officer, she spent many years serving the Empire in the Imperial navy, eventually rising to the rank of Admiral at the beginning of the Romulan-Klingon War sixty years ago. She served with distinction in that conflict, and her glorious victory over the Klingons at the Battle of Prygus in 2382 sealed her distinction within the Empire.

Not much else is known of her service to the Empire, but in 2432 she sent a message to the Federation Council identifying herself as the Praetor of the Senate and People of the Romulan Star Empire. It is unknown when she was elected to this position, or when she retired from military service to enter politics. Her first major interstellar move has been to call for peace talks to begin with the Federation following the incursion of 2429.

The Federation answered her call in 2432 by dispatching the USS Phoenix to Romulus in a diplomatic capacity. While there, the Federation starship was instrumental in stopping a plan by a Senate faction known as the Warhawks from triggering a new conflict between the Federation and the Empire. Delora Radaik emerged from the crisis in a much stronger position, and only time will tell what this means for intergalactic politics.

In mid-2433, the Federation appointed the Vulcan diplomat Sardak to the position of ambassador to the Romulan Star Empire. Since his appointment, Delora Radaik and Sardak have successfully negotiated a new peace treaty between the two powers, a process that was ratified by both governments in mid-2435.
