USS BASTET (NCC-74977)

The USS Bastet (NCC-74977) is a brand-new Prometheus-class starship assigned to the New Alexandria space station.

The ship's design is a modified version of a Prometheus-class (referred to as a Prometheus-X). While equipped with a standard bio-regenerative hull matrix, the famous Multi-Vector Assault Mode usual in the Prometheus-class has been removed here, and instead, the Bastet is equipped with two incredible pieces of technology - a Quantum Slipstream Drive and a Dimensional Jump Drive (Q-drive and D-drive respectively).

Crossing the veil between dimensions, while still a technology in its early years, is not something new to the Federation. First reverse-engineered from captured Locusta Regime starships, a D-drive was first successfully tested aboard a starship some two decades ago.

The Q-drive, however, is a different story. It is a modified version of a D-drive that generates and uses chronotons to create a static dimensional bubble, that phases the ship out of this space-time continuum and into another. Theoretically, the Q-drive will allow the Bastet to generate a small artificial timehole, that will allow the ship to move through Time. It is worth noting that this incredible technology has, until now, been at all points theoretical, and if a starship can break the time barrier and explore Time itself, then the Federation may have a whole new frontier to seek out.

Whether or not the technology will prove viable, only Time will tell.
