USS SUTTNER (NCC-4401)

The USS SUTTNER, NCC-4401, was a Dyson-class starship in active service between 2415-2419. The first starship to bear the name, the Dyson-class cruisers were designed for multi-role adaptability. The Suttner's mission focus saw her spend much time in the Delta Quadrant, overseeing the growth of the infant Borg Federation.

Captain Carl Abraham was her first master in 2415, but the ship was handed over to Commander Jason Donovan for her shakedown cruise - a successful diplomatic mission to Borgus. Following her return to the Alpha Quadrant, the Suttner was assigned to Commander Lorn, a 'new generation' female Human-Borg. Lorn led the ship for the next year, accomplishing such missions as testing a gravitron catapult, participating in an updated version of the Wadi game of Chula, and defending the Ocampan homeworld from a renegade Borg Cube.

In 2416, Lorn was promoted to Captain. The Suttner had to deal with numerous problems, such as investigating a Romulan spy aboard, and being caught up in the struggle for the throne of the planet Phantasia. Toward the end of the year, Captain Lorn was reassigned, and the centre seat was taken over by Commander Sharpa, a male Tamarian possessed of his people's unique method of communicating. Sharpa commanded the Suttner on a second diplomatic mission to Borgus in late 2416.

In 2417, the Suttner was assigned to a lengthy planetary survey of Bartan II, a project which took several months and involved contact with the USS Prophecy and a return to port at Gateway Station. Later that year, the crew of the Suttner made contact with the bizarre realm of Arcadia, and was once again dispatched to Borg space to assist the Borg Federation against the schemes of the Neo-Collective.

In 2418, Sharpa was promoted to Captain. The Suttner returned to Borg space for the fourth and final time to assist in the uncovering of a Romulan spy network. The ship's main computer suffered a major malfunction in the latter half of the year that saw the crew spend much time in Starbase 59.

In 2419, Captain Sharpa was reassigned, and Commander Isabella Rochelli was given the centre seat. She only remained in the position for a few months, overseeing a refit of the Suttner at the Starbase. While there, the crew had time to uncover a saboteur, and investigate the Voth presence on the forest moon of Styx in a joint mission with the USS Prophecy.

When the Suttner's refit was complete, she sailed once again into the stars, but was heavily damaged by an encounter with a class 10 spatial anomaly. Commander Rochelli resigned, and the ship was temporarily given to Commander Gene McInnes, who managed to uncover and break up a Neo-Essentialist cell using both the Suttner and the USS Eidolon.

It was the Suttner's last mission. In the autumn of 2419, Starfleet removed her from the active roster and put the Suttner into the reserve fleet, ending a solid front-line career. She is now a training vessel for Starfleet Academy Cadets.
