Mission: Fortress: Earth

=============================

“BLACK OUTS”
(Continued from “Meet Me Inside”)

=============================

---------------------------------------
Location: Point Bonita Facility
Stardate: 2.16.0923.1630
Scene: Submarine Bay -> Corridor

---------------------------------------

Lynette found herself on the move again rushing through the exit to the submarine bay and back into the facility. She could hear the cries of the two men that had helped save her earlier crying out for her to stop but she ignored them. Her mind was still in chaos that hadn't ceased since the revelation she had found of this place, what she had been working on and ultimately whom she had been working for. The monster of a man that had caused so pain and death for his own ideals and goals.

She still couldn't believe that she did not put the pieces together sooner or anyone else had.

Selyara Chen and her team were here to stop Edgerton and his plans and she now remembered her from the Fedcom broadcasts that depicted her as a traitor who had committed terrible acts. Now that she had met her in person, she certainly could not refute it entirely. She was willing to risk the lives of everyone in this facility to stop Edgerton including her friends and Sam who were in the dark about what was going on the same as she was but hours before. They were not a part of this and should not have to suffer for it.

Lynette wasn't going to let that happen. She was not leaving until she had least found Sam and a way to warn everyone and get them out. Lynette was no longer going to be involved in Richard Edgerton's power hungry schemes of dominance that she had become a part of unaware. She was also neither going to be involved Selyara's heartless spiteful mission that would kill everyone on the base just to get at one man. Again she was on her own if only she knew where Sam was.

Suddenly she felt herself slam against the corridor wall and the lights went dead.

A meow echoed throughout the darkness and Lynette recovered from the sudden event.

*What the hell was that! Was that you Sam?*

-------------------------------------------------

Scene: Main Engineering

-------------------------------------------------

The red pulsing lights of the alarm system flooded sections of main engineering as Sam strode in. The engineering staff inside continued working at their normal pace, the security alert for Lynette not affecting their work.

Sam stepped inside a lift in the corner and took it to the upper level where he could access the transporter systems.

“Hey Sam!” As soon as the lift came to a stop he was greeted by a tall striking man of latino ancestry, catching Sam off-guard. He didn't expect anything in his way to do what he needed to do. Getting Lynette and himself out of this recently revealed hell-hole.

“Oh...Hi Velez.” Sam stammered a little.

“Haven't seen you since this morning man.” Velez said with a touch of excitement giving Sam a few friendly taps on his shoulder.

“Nor Lynette....ehhh.” A cheekish grin formed on the latino's face and those friendly taps turned into jabs that seemed to imply that that he wanted details.

“What do you mean? We have been working in the core all day.”

“I love your definition of... working” Sam saw Velez use his two fingers to accentuate the last word.

“Oh come on Tibo we're just friends....colleagues.”

“Yeah right. That's not what I have heard or seen.” Velez kept up the nudging and winking out loud but then leaned closer his expression to serious.

“I have heard whispers around here that security is hunting Lynette. That she is responsible for a security breach Is that true?” Velez whispered discreetly.

“I... don't know....Anyway there is something I need to do. I'll catch you later.” Sam was flustered and stammered once again as he began to move away.

“Anything I can do to help?” Velez asked as he watched his friend walk off without a word and ignoring him. There was something up with Sam, there was cloud of suspicion he seemed to sense.

“Okay then.” The latino man said to himself, not expecting for Sam to hear. He then moved toward s the comm panel on the wall and activated it.

After leaving his colleague behind Sam moved across the walkway that overlooked the reactor core of the facility. He came to a stop at a row of panels and began to access the EPS network controls.

What he was about to do was risky and there was a chance that it could end badly but it was the best thing he could think of in trying to establish remote transporter control quickly.

Sam's fingers tapped at the keys as he brought up the EPS distribution system. If he could cause an overload in the one or two of the EPS conduits and make it look like an accident then that would cause a momentary power fall-out just enough that he could get into the transporter controls and get remote access without anyone detecting it.

His fingers tapped furiously at the keys and within a minute the facility was rocked by a slight tremor and then engineering was placed in darkness for a few seconds before the crimson lighting returned. Sam's display correctly read of an overload to one of the EPS conduits and quickly he began to work on the second part of his plan. Alarms sounded as he worked and he noticed in the corner of his eye on the level below as engineers scrambled with kits towards the engineering exit.

*Yes. This is working. A big enough of a distraction for me to continue.* Sam thought as he worked on the transporter program. His fingers were about to key the final sequence when he heard a familiar voice speak from behind him.

“Sam. I'm sorry” The latino voice spoke and Sam spun around to see the butt of a Phaser Rifle from a security guard impact against his temple. There was a sharp momentary pain that flooded through his skull before everything went black.

Sam managed to hear a few words before he fully lost consciousness.

“The Admiral would like a word with this one.”

NRPG: Okay only a short one but shows what Sam has been upto.

Sorry if it seems a little rushed, I had hoped to do a little more but going to be busy mostly this weekend so this was only opportunity I would have to get this out.
