Personality & Traits

General Overview Phia is quite cold and at first (and second and even third) talking to will appear to be talking down to you. She assumes most people (herself included) are making mistakes and is constantly, in the back of her mind, figuring out what can go wrong with a situation and how to get out of it. She doesn't trust people and trusts institutions less. She doesn't care for “instinct” reactions to situations but prefers to go into something with a long list of facts supporting her. Her sense of humor is dry and black and in general finds most things to be beneath her. Why she’s in Starfleet is as much a mystery to her as it is to everyone else.

For the most part when children come into the Counseling Center Phia is ok because she understand the limitations of intellectual development and responds accordingly (she's still fairly honest and doesn't candy coat things however). However, as she places a premium on people working smartly and to the best of their abilities and expects most adults to have matured appropriately she has less patients for adults (hence the brutal honesty).

She does like dogs and cats; mostly because they don't talk.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strength: Efficient, brutally honest; you will always know where you stand with Phia.
Weakness: Efficient, brutally honest; you will always know where you stand with Phia.
Ambitions To talk to as few people as possible (somewhat difficult given her jobs) and to keep stupid people out of Starfleet.
Hobbies & Interests She enjoys collecting swords, boxing, and painting. If she has other hobbies & interests she's hidden them well.

Personal History Educated in the cosmopolitan city of Fortian on BOLARUS IX, Phia was sent to the best schools as the daughter of a Bolian artist and a successful Vulcan trader. She had what from all appearances looked like a very nice life – she had a loving family (rounded out six years after her birth with the birth of a sister), a fine education, and lived in one of the best cities in the Beta Quadrant. She was always a bit of a snob, even from birth, although why that is no one is quite sure.

However, while bright she lacked direction in her life. Looking for adventure, but still do something she considered to be “worthy” of herself, she signed up for SFA (which was probably the last decision she’s ever made on instinct alone). While at the Academy she was intrigued by Intel and pursued that with a devotion not seen before. She genuinely enjoyed learning Intel Ops and was thrilled to learn she would be placed in the field right after graduating SFA.

Her years in the field were probably her favorite years and she relished the opportunity to go diving in. The only thing that has marred her years in the field was the untimely deaths of her parents about five years ago in a shuttlecraft accident. She didn’t find out about their deaths, and funerals, until months after it happened. After that incident she became cold, and her natural snobbiness became more pronounced. It is doubtful that Phia would ever explain the cause of her coldness, or even realize all that herself. For while she is quite bright about other people and things, she lacks a definite self-knowledge or awareness, which makes her quite maddening to just about everyone else that has to deal with her and her attitude.

After completing 4 years in the field, Phia was abruptly reassigned – this time to ship life. How she was to cope with it no one knew since she made it clear (or so she thought) that she wanted to avoid the drudgery of ship life. However, what she didn't realize was that her cousin (Ambassador Bonviva) “nudged” SFC to assign her to a ship because she worried about the dark person her younger cousin was becoming. If Phia did know about this, she would be quite upset for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that she doesn’t particularly like her cousin.

Most people who know Phia would admit that Phia isn’t afraid to show emotions – it just that you won’t often like what she’s showing. She’s rude, stuck up, cold and mean. If she mellows out it’s not that she’ll become nice, just less uncouth.

A few months into her tour on the USS STONEHENGE, Phia had a mental breakdown and became catatonic. Only due to Ens. Izshlana Vort’s dream telepathy with her, was Phia able to break out. The reason for the catatonia was Phia’s continual suppression of her emotions and memories of her work as an Intel Agent, her abusive training to be an agent, and her relatively blissful life before that. After Phia came out of the catatonia the Bolian/Vulcan decided to explore what it is she found fun in an attempt to balance her own needs; additionally she decided to try out her original love which is psychology and counseling.

After she left the STONEHENGE, Phia was transferred onto a variety of ships and with every assignment she became more and more engrossed in the world of Intel again. And she found that she appreciated now the challenge of Intel.

Her current assignments tend to be ones where she can do just that - she tends to wear Counseling colors but works as Intel behind the scenes.

But can I just say – you really are a very weird Counselor? Every other Counselor in creation enjoys talking. You’re the only one who compares it to being shot.
